Uniform

It's not required, it's a group decision. 

Mobile Phone

No they are not needed, no activities at Shirejam need a mobile phone to take part.

The decision on whether young people in each section are allowed to bring mobile phones to shirejam is one for section and group leaders and may well follow your normal camp policy.

Tents

A County Jamboree for all Young People and Adults involved with Scouts Hereford and Worcester, Gloucestershire and Shropshire. A weekend camp from the 7th to 9th July 2023- packed with adventure, friendships and new experiences. Hosted and supported by the Three Counties Showground.

Adults need to have a DBS to camp.  So Tuesday - Thursday during the setup adults will not need to have a DBS.  From Friday morning (8am) all adults on site will need a DBS as the "camp" will have started onsite.

Leaders will be allowed to bring their own vehicles to transport kit required. We would ask that Leaders ensure the values of the camp are upheld and utilise car sharing to attend. If leaders are bringing their own children with them to the site, then this will be considered acceptable as a seat is being utilised, even if booked at the lower rate.  However, we would ask that the bulk of your young people do travel by shared transport.

Yes, Leaders can use their own vehicles to travel and attend the site. You are also welcome to use trailers. Please note though cars can not be parked next to your site. Trailers may be left on site if required to be used such as storage or mobile kitchens.

This is the time that all vehicles must be off the campsite before young people arrive on Friday. This time will be confirmed shortly.

Train

Public transport is available and you are able to walk to site. Please ensure you risk assess accordingly being actually aware increase of traffic on roads and seek advise from he rail operators. Due to this being a major event. If you are seriously considering this please contact us to ensure we can assist entry via the back gate. Though you may find coach or minibus travel more cost effective.

Burger

The event is not catered for groups but if you are coming as staff then food will be bookable at a later point.

Bacon

The full range of food is still being confirmed, but is expected to include Jacket Potatoes, Fish and Chips, Burgers, Ice Creams

Tent

Beaver Scouts, Cub Scouts, Scouts, Explorer Scouts, Scout Network and Adult members of The Scouts from the counties below.

This event is open to members of Hereford and Worcester, Gloucester and Shropshire counties and invited members from across the country.

FIre

Open fires are prohibited on site with the exception of the fire in the bushcraft programme area

Yes – each subcamp has a power electrical supply, this includes both single and three phase connections. How these connections are used will be a subcamp decision and we encourage you to speak to your District rep(s) about this.

More details of the electrical connections and an electrical policy will be published nearer the camp date. We are unable to supply adapters. All electrical items must be PAT tested before being connected to the showground power.

Yes – Each group requires either a campsite or Greenfield permit. If you do not have a permit holder in your group please speak to your district team who can advise who could support you to camp.

Paw

We will be putting on a special programme for Squirels, the newest and youngest section of The Scouts

Wine bottle

Alcohol will only be able to be purchased and consumed in the bar area.  All other consumption is strictly prohibited.

Smoking

We respectfully request that all smoking is done in the designated area, this is located by yellow gate.  This is done to not promote smoking to our young members.
